Older Stalls At Kea Farm Market

Kea Farm Market – Busiest Location In Cameron Highlands

Originally a local morning market, Kea Farm Market is now open for much of the day. Most of its customers are tourists.

The area has changed a lot over the years, but the traffic remains very busy.

If you’re interested in coming here, read this article first!

Things To Know

The traffic is craziest here from 11am to 1pm. If you can avoid these hours, you won’t have to struggle so much to find parking.

Parking fees cost RM3 to 4 per vehicle. There are two car parks, one easily seen from the main road. And the other open-air carpark is shared with CH Flora Park behind Kea Farm Guest House (not the same as the guest basement parking for Kea Farm Guest House).

We prefer to park at the newer carpark (shared with CH Flora Park) hidden from the main road since there is a free buggy service to take visitors from the carpark back to the front of the market.

You can take this same buggy service back to the carpark after exploring Kea Farm Market. The buggies come quite frequently. Less than 15-minute intervals.

Be careful when driving as there are a lot of potholes on the road. It helps to be clear about where you want to go so you can avoid reversing out of tight corners if you need to backtrack.

Highlights

If you’re planning on shopping at Kea Farm Market, know that a lot of shops sell the same wares for similar prices.

You can try to bargain but many sellers frown upon this behavior.

Fresh Produce

Many like to browse through the stalls and pick up fresh vegetables to bring back home. Corn and sweet potatoes are commonly sold.

You can also pick up fruit like strawberries or tomatoes.

We sometimes see a petai stall further inside the market by the car park.

Tip: Pick your own instead of going for the pre-packed goods as there is a tendency for sellers to fill boxes with good and bad specimens.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

This is a popular sweet treat that you can pick up at Kea Farm Market. These are just strawberries sold with cheap chocolate that you can use as a dipping sauce.

There are also a couple of stalls selling pre-packed scones of varying flavors and homemade strawberry jam too.

Deep Fried Snacks

There are deep fried balls of sweet potatoes and other snacks like cucur udang.

The problem with these stalls is the lack of hygiene. They don’t have food covers to prevent flies from hopping on the food.

It’s a risk you’re going to take if you decide to have any of these tasty-looking snacks.

You must eat your snacks standing too since there are no seats around.

Plants

There’s one quaint greenhouse (Amazon Le Petit) selling a variety of healthy-looking plants not far from the ticket counter of The Sheep Sanctuary.

Their main store is at Agro Market.

But besides this shop, there are other vendors selling succulents and other live plants.

Homemade Ice Cream

PUKU ice cream has a stall at Kea Farm Market. We really do like their strawberry yoghurt ice cream although they have other flavors for sale.

Kea Garden Guest House

This hotel is right in the middle of Kea Farm Market. And they have a pretty little garden in front of their main building.

It’s free to enter the garden.

There used to be a strawberry section too, but it has since closed.

The Sheep Sanctuary

A farmer’s market might seem like a weird place to have a petting zoo but that is what The Sheep Sanctuary is.

They have sheep plus alpaca kept in wooden pens. Visitors can feed and touch the animals.

Entry tickets cost RM12 per adult. They tend to give a box of feed per group of 2 to 4 visitors.

You can buy more animal feed if you want but we personally think the animals are overfed by all the visitors that come here.

Conclusion

Kea Farm Market is not a must-see location in our opinion. But that doesn’t stop hundreds of visitors from passing through this place.

If you are looking things like succulents, flowers, vegetables or strawberries, there are still other places you can go to that sell these.

For instance, Green View Garden, Agro Market or the Brinchang Night Market.

Brinchang Night Market

On weekends, visitors will flock to Brinchang Night Market in the evening – mostly for street food and dinner opportunities. Besides the many food stalls, there are the same things for sale that you will find at Kea Farm Market.
