Big Red Strawberry Farm – Spacious And Entirely Free To Visit!
Big Red Strawberry Farm is popular with families. The fact that it does not charge entry fees and that there is a big visitor car park are two good reasons for this.
But what is there to do here and how does this place stand out from other strawberry farms?
Take a look in this post!
Highlights
Café
With two seating areas, the café does not feel crowded. The menu covers many strawberry themed items – including nasi lemak with strawberry sambal.
There is fresh strawberry juice, strawberry milkshakes, or waffles with strawberries and cream too.
Note: There is a big toilet block close to the café. It is free to use.
Gift Shop
If you did not get a chance to pick up any souvenirs yet, there is a shop conveniently next to the café.
They have BOH tea products, keychains, umbrellas, strawberry related snacks in boxes, etc.
Arcade Section
Kids will enjoy trying out all the many different vending machines and arcade games available next to the café.
This is the biggest arcade section at any attraction in Cameron Highlands that we have seen so far.
There are also massage chairs on one side.
Hydroponic Vegetables
Much of the middle section is taken up on both sides by neat rows of hydroponically grown vegetables.
Visitors are strictly not allowed to enter but can view the vegetables as they walk between the café and garden supply center.
These vegetables end up at the salad bar in the café where they also sell a unique beverage called butterhead lettuce juice. We’ve not tried it ourselves but it looks healthy.
Strawberry Farm
You can see some strawberries at the top of the farm. And at the middle section close to the hydroponic vegetables. But these sections are also off limits to visitors.
Unless you have paid for the self-picking activity.
If you want to pick a small amount of strawberries, you’d better go for Royal Berry Strawberry Park & Café instead.
Because at Big Red Strawberry Farm, they have a minimum weight of 1kg that you must pick. And that will cost you RM60 total for 2 pax.
Garden & Garden Supply Center
While small, the garden is well-kept and has a good variety of different plants to see. There is a koi pond and water feature close to the garden.
Note: There used to be a mini zoo where they kept birds in cages but we’re glad to see that these are now empty.
You can pick up pots of succulents and flowers at the garden supply center. There are also things like seeds and pot display racks for sale.
This section of Big Red Strawberry Farm is at the bottom end of the slope.
Things To Note
As with other attractions in Cameron Highlands (like Lavender Garden), this whole place is on a steep slope that manual cars will have difficulty with.
So many choose to park their right at the top and explore the area from top to bottom.
Unfortunately, there’s no exit right at the bottom (where the garden center is) so you must back track to the middle section (there is a smaller car park here) and wait for your group to pick you up if needed.
If there are slots available, we recommend parking at the middle car park.
There is also parking further down the hill but that will mean even more uphill walking.
When it’s time to leave, the road is one-way. You must drive further up the hill (where there are even more parking lots) and down the hill. It is steep so go slowly.
We do not recommend visiting this place if you are wheelchair-bound or mobility issues as there will be a lot of slopes.

Conclusion
While you are here, we think it’s worth visiting both Big Red Strawberry Farm and Cactus Valley since they are next to each other.
It’s nice that you don’t have to worry about a lack of parking or seats at the café when you visit this Strawberry Farm.
For another strawberry picking venue, we recommend Royal Berry Strawberry Farm.
