Getting From Singapore To Cameron Highlands
Starting your journey to Cameron Highlands from Singapore? Here are two tried and true methods that you can go with.
One is more budget-friendly and the other is more comfortable and convenient.
Check them both out in this post!
Step 1: Making your way from Singapore to Ipoh
Method 1 – Overnight Bus
This is the cheapest direct way to get from Singapore to Ipoh. Because the journey takes about 8 hours, overnight buses are popular. Especially with Malaysians who work in Singapore.
So, if you plan to take this mode of transportation, you might have to book months ahead if big holidays like Chinese New Year are approaching.
The buses are air-conditioned leave from several places in Singapore. Sri Maju is a well-known bus service that offers direct transport between Ipoh and Singapore.
If you are taking Sri Maju, the bus will drop most of its passengers off at the Sri Maju Bus Station (Jalan Bendahara) which is about 10 minutes’ drive from Ipoh Old Town.
Super Nice will drop off passengers at Jalan Bendahara, Ipoh too.
Arrivals are usually before daybreak (e.g., 5am if there are no delays).
Some bus services like Golden Coach or StarMart Express will stop at Ipoh Amanjaya Bus Terminal instead, which is much further away (~20 minutes’ drive from Ipoh Old Town).
- Duration: ~8 hours
- Frequency: Daily departures from 8:30am to 12am
- Fares: From RM140 onwards per person per one-way trip
Method 2 – Flight
First, you’ll have to get yourself over to Changi International Airport.
With that out of the way, you can board a direct 1-hour flight from Singapore to Ipoh. AirAsia and Scoot offer daily flights 2 to 3 times a day.
The flights will touch down at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport. Ipoh’s only airport is small and easy to navigate.
- Duration: ~1 hour (usually less than an hour)
- Frequency: 2-3 times daily
- Fares: From RM400+
