Brinchang Night Market – What Is There To See And Buy Here?
Brinchang Night Market attracts crowds from 4:30pm onwards. Homestays in this area are plentiful and popular since you can easily walk down to the market without having to find parking.
Many shops sell the same stuff. But despite this, we recommend having a look. Especially if you’re on the hunt for big strawberries or local cuisine.
See what you can get at this market from this post!
What To See & Buy
1. Strawberries
Many stalls sell strawberries. We’ve seen white strawberries here too. Which you don’t see in strawberry farms that allow self-picking.
The strawberries are usually pre-packed in plastic clamshells. Dishonest sellers will hide some spoiled strawberries under the best ones.
There are venders that sell little tubs of melted dipping chocolate with strawberries and marshmallows on sticks too.
2. Vegetables And Fruit
All kinds of local fruit and vegetables are available at the night market. Many vendors focus on selling corn, tomatoes, or sweet potatoes.
Others may have a variety of vegetables for sale. Some present them in loose form with same samples available for tasting (usually in the case of corn or tomatoes).
3. Clothing, Toys, And Keychains
Surprisingly, there are a lot of stalls selling apparel in this market. Things like kids’ pajamas or fuzzy socks covered in strawberry print are usually on full display.
Some stalls just sell keychains in many bright colors.
4. Snacks & Beverages
Snacks of the steamed or deep-fried variety are all over the market. Steamed corn is popular. As are deep-fried sweet potato balls.
Try apam balik if you’ve never had a chance before. There are many flavors available.
There are also stalls selling grilled meat skewers. We saw one stall specializing in grilled lamb and others selling fried chicken or deep-fried squid.
Besides food, there are a lot of drinks you can try at the market. The stall keepers will serve them to you on the spot in takeaway cups.
Note that there are no alcoholic drinks to be found at the market. Locals who feel like having alcohol usually find a local pub, or get some beer from the Billion Supermarket in Brinchang.
5. Ready Meals
Since there are no places to sit and enjoy a meal at this market, many food vendors have meals ready-to-go.
There are packed rice sets with curried meats and vegetables as typical in Malay cuisine.
Other stalls have food ready in a buffet manner so that you can choose what side dishes you want with your rice.
We did not see any strictly vegetarian stalls though. Most of these stalls look Muslim-friendly to cater to most of the crowd.
6. Bee-Related Products
There are 1 or 2 stalls selling local honey, wax, honeycomb, and other bee related products.
If you are buying honey, do be aware that it’s usually mixed (i.e. watered down) with plant-based sugar syrup and not 100% genuine honey.
7. Live Plants And Fresh Flowers
A couple of stalls focus on selling succulents. Others only sell fresh or dried flower bouquets.
You can also pick up indoor plants at this market.
From our personal experience though, plants grown in Cameron Highlands don’t do so well elsewhere.
The climate in Ipoh for example, is much warmer than at Cameron Highlands.
8. Ice Cream
Popstick is one of the few ice cream vendors at this market. They also have a stall at the morning market, Kea Farm Market.
We’ve not tried their ice cream before so we can’t comment but they do have a lot of flavors available.
Opening Hours
Unless it’s school holidays or a public holiday that falls next to a weekend, this market is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Stalls usually start setting up around 4pm. And a good number of them are ready start selling their goods by 5pm.

Things To Note
- This market is commonly called Pasar Malam Cameron Highlands too. Which translates to Cameron Highlands Night Market.
- It’s not the only night market. But it is the biggest and most well-known. It attracts many tourists.
- Apartment homestays are very popular in this area. If you would like to book one, book early if your dates fall on a weekend or public holiday.
- There is a paid parking lot next to the market. To avoid paying parking fees, many visitors choose to park along the main road and even inside the residential area behind the market.
- Peak visiting hours for the market fall between 6 to 8pm. This is also when traffic in Brinchang is heaviest
- The market will still be open if there is light rain or mist.
- Have loose change ready if you plan to shop here
- Check out all stalls before making a purchase, many have similar goods and pricing
- Have an umbrella or rain poncho ready whenever you visit this market
Conclusion
Browsing the Brinchang Night Market is a more pleasant experience than a visit to Kea Farm Market in our opinion.
There are less flies buzzing about, and the temperature in the evening is cooler. Even if you might get a little wet from rain or mist.
Kea Farm Market
But if you can’t make it for this night market, Kea Farm Market is open for most of the day (until 7pm) and open every day of the week. You can get similar goods too.
