Scenery

Firstly, it’s hard to top the scenery here. Even the hillside drive into the plantation is stunning. The only thing that takes away from the whole experience is the traffic on weekends and public holidays.

But these days, the traffic in and out of the one-way road to the plantation is well managed.

Beautiful Visitor Center

Secondly, BOH Sungai Palas Tea Plantation has a large and modern visitor center. It’s a comfortable space for the whole family to sit down and relax.

There’s refreshments and a good view at either of the 2 cafes inside the visitor centre:

  • J.A.’s Balcony
  • Tristan’s Terrace

Between the two, Tristan’s Terrace is newer. But both cafes share the same common kitchen.

You can order cakes, pastries or scones (we don’t recommend them though) from the counter. As well as hot meals like spaghetti or curry mee. The nasi lemak is good.

Factory Tours

Factory tours of the tea processing plant behind the visitor centre are short, but free.

And while you can’t see the whole process of how the tea is produced and packaged, seeing part of it is still a good experience.

Besides driving here on your own, you can take Explore Camerons Tour Service to visit BOH Sungai Palas Tea Plantation.

These are strictly private tours (no mixing with other groups).

And you can visit many other places in Cameron Highlands besides this tea plantation as part of a day trip to Cameron Highlands from Ipoh.

Conclusion

BOH Sungai Palas Tea Plantation is the go-to tea plantation for many in Cameron Highlands for both the appealing scenery and modern visitor centre that overlooks the plantation.

Because of how popular it is, it is very crowded with tourists on weekends and public holidays.

If you want to avoid the crowds, we advise going to other tea plantations in Cameron Highlands like BOH Habu Tea Plantation near Ringlet. Or going before the crowds arrive – 8am to 9am will give you a more peaceful experience here.
